SS21 Shoe Τrends

Are you ready to take off your
slippers?

Having spent this winter bound to our favourite slippers, the urge to rebuild our outside wardrobe—from the office to cocktails—has never felt so prevalent. I am always abreast of the latest and greatest to share the trends because there's one fashion item that needs an update: our shoes.

1. Chunky Clogs
Love them or hate them, clogs are slipping into our closets this year and bring the style back into our hearts.
High-end brands such as Hermès and Louis Vuitton have launched chunky clogs in various shapes and colours and paired effortlessly with everything on their Spring/Summer runways.

2. Slippers for In & Out
Slippers are currently having their biggest moments to date and are worth wearing outside the house.
Though we might be starting off the year sitting pretty at home, our feet deserve to look just as good.
The square-toe shape becomes sophisticated when it meets the soft shearling.

3. Tie the Knot
Buttery-soft leather folds into this shoe that makes for a unique find. The mule knot style is the perfect way to cool off as the weather gets warmer.
One of the iconic season’s sandals is mid-height heeled in yellow or gold upper leather with front knot detail on squared toe.

4. Stretchy Flats
The new fresh minimalist ballerina flat is the new trend that makes you feel like walking on a cloud.
The form-fitting round and square toe ballet flats are comfy enough for indoor and outdoor wear.
In a time where comfort is a key trend, flat shoes with a soft stretchy quarter of napa leather will be the right piece to kick off the new season.

5. Thong sandals
It was a surprise to see the beach favourite flip-flops on the catwalk in a heeled classic shape, with a chic upgrade on leather and thin soles.
The classic thong sandals never looked chicer and have finally been elevated to be a fit for the fashion crowd.
The new iterations play with proportions, heights, elevated materials and extra details like puffy-up shapes, leopard print and ankle wraps to give the classic summer accessories a much-needed makeover.

6. Baby heel
This season, the low baby heel has been spotted on the catwalks either in a block heel or as a variation, on a kitten heel. There's something delicate, sweet and feminine about them and it will appear with the first spring slingbacks and mules. It’s obviously one more pandemic affection by making everything more convenient and comfy.

7. Camp Sandals
The teen spirit of our summer camp days is alive with this trend taking over. A grown-up take on trek sandals, it's nostalgia to the max.
Velcro sandals are less granola and more girly than they have ever been. Designers paired lacy versions with equally feminine socks, showcasing ones with pearl embellishments, chains and also they tried bandanna scarf -wrapped on velcro sandals. Covid comfort trend took them to another level.

8. Shoes with padding and puffed-up shapes
This comfortable, cool, weird sandal trend is everywhere this summer. The aforementioned coolness of this puffy trend is only further backed-up by the slew of brands supporting the movement. From the Bottega and Proenza of the world to emerging labels to everyday brands, Mango and Zara,  hundreds of puffy ruched and padded shoes that make the trend look too good to pass up this summer.

9. Serious Straps
Strappy heels and sandals are hardly a bold footwear trend, but 2021 is seeing the current trend creep up into new territory. The new iteration involves more detailed strapping, with some wrapping up and around the ankle for an elevated take on the trend. In this minimalist style, the seasonal update comes in the form of an asymmetric strap and a wrapped ankle strap. Not to mention they are ideal for showing off a fresh pedicure and your sunburned legs.

10. Shoe Chains
Bold metal detailing on footwear was all over the runway last season. Whether you’re after more grunge or more glam, chunky chains have made their way from our necks to our feet as the latest statement accessory. For the upcoming summer, plan on attaching this shiny embellishment to your favourite pair of heels. Also spotted at almost all of the famous brands, it’s safe to say that chained footwear is 2021 must-haves.
